Step 1: Enroll in the Florida Sales Associate Pre-Licensing Course

The Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) requires you complete the 63-Hour Pre-License Course from a FREC approved real estate school. This pre-licensing course will teach you everything you need to know for both the class and state of Florida real estate exams as well as teach you valuable information about your exciting new career.

We offer several classes throughout the Tampa Bay area. If you have a busy schedule, you might choose one of our night classes, or you may want to complete the course in less than two weeks with one of our day classes. We also offer a morning class option!

Step 2: Apply for the Florida Real Estate License

You will need to apply for your license with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Approval of your application takes on average 1-2 weeks, but can take longer in special circumstances. The maximum waiting period for an approval is 90 days. You cannot schedule your state license exam until this application is approved.

You can complete this application at anytime, but we recommend submitting it before or during the course so you can take your state exam right after finishing the class while the information is still "fresh in your head."

Step 3: Fingerprinting

As part of the application process, the FREC requires a background check be completed. You will need to submit your fingerprints to the DBPR for the background check to begin. Due to DBPR rules, you may not reuse any previous fingerprints for your real estate license.

Obtaining a Real Estate License with a Criminal Background

If you have a criminal background, the license application process may take up to the full 90 days for processing. Step 4: Schedule State License Exam

Once your application is approved, you'll be able to schedule your state exam. The state exam is offered everyday however, we recommend scheduling in advance as there is often a 1-2 week waiting period.

You will receive an email from Pearson VUE once your application is approved with instructions to schedule your state exam.

Where Can You Take Your State Exam?

The state exam must be taken at one of the approved Pearson VUE testing facilities. Testing centers are available throughout the United States as well as US Military bases worldwide. It is not required to take the Florida exam in a Florida testing center.

When Can You Schedule Your State Exam?

Your application with the DBPR must be approved before you can schedule your exam. You are able to schedule the state exam before completing the course, but you must complete the course and receive your completion certificate to take to the state testing center. Should you need to retake the state exam, you will be required to bring your completion certificate.

Step 5: Complete Course & Pass End-of-Course Exam

Once you have completed the pre-licensing course, the review for the end-of-course license exam begins. Everything you need to know for the class exam will be covered in the review sessions. Your Instructor will take you through every chapter going over the material for your class exam.

The end of course license exam is given on the last day of class. There is a 100 question, multiple choice exam. This exam is timed and you will have three hours to complete the exam. A passing score is 70% is required to be eligible for the state license exam.

If you do not achieve at least a 70% don't sweat it, you're covered by our 1-Year Retake Guarantee. The Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) requires you wait at least 30 days before retaking the end of course exam, which gives you plenty of time to brush up on the course material.

Step 6: Pass The State License Exam

Once you have successfully completed the pre-license course, you are now eligible to sit for the state license exam. We will provide you with a completion certificate. You must take your completion certificate to the state testing center in order to sit for the exam.

The exam is 100 multiple choice questions. You have three and a half hours to complete the exam. A passing score of 75% will get you your Florida Real Estate License!

The Florida Real Estate Commission requires you wait at least thirty (30) days before retaking the end of course exam, and that you must retake the course in full before your third exam attempt.
